Faith in the Arts is a series of lectures taking place termly, using a similar format to our ‘Science meets Faith’ lectures, which are also sponsored by CUP.
The next lecture in the series will be delivered on Monday 21 May 2018 at 7.45pm, by Revd. Dr. Malcolm Guite on 'Poetic faith: Sounding the depths with Samuel Taylor Coleridge'.
The 'Faith in the Arts' series was launched on Monday 24th October 2016 by Lida Kindersley, of the Cardozo Kindersley Workshop. ‘Letter Cutting Movement’ traced the evolution of letter cutting in the Kindersley Workshop over the last 70 years. It was supported by an Exhibition. This lecture was part of the Cambridge Festival of Ideas.
The second lecture was held on Thursday, 12th January 2017, and was delivered by Professor Bruce Birch, Dean Emeritus and Professor of Old Testament at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington DC, USA. ‘The Arts, Midrash and Biblical Teaching’ covered the founding of the Luce Center for the Arts and Religion at the Seminary, as well as the speaker’s personal understanding of the subject.
