Worship

There are three services each Sunday at Wesley: early morning at 9.30am, the main service at 10.30am and the evening one at 6.30pm. The early morning service has a smaller congregation and is either prayer or a communion service. The main morning service follows a relatively traditional pattern with communion on the first Sunday of the month, whilst the evening service is smaller and usually quieter and more reflective.

There is also a Crèche that meets in the Octagon. Children aged 5 – 15 years are invited to join SPLAT (Spirit, Life, Art and Teaching) this takes place in the Upper Room during the morning service.

After the major refurbishment of 1990 the congregation is now seated in a broad semi-circular arrangement around the communion table. This has encouraged a more informal and friendly atmosphere.

The early morning and evening services are held in the Small Chapel.

The Church has a fine organ (William Hill 1844) with much of its original pipe work and mahogany casing retained. Originally it was erected in the Eastbrook Hall, Bradford, and when that building was demolished the organ was bought and erected at Wesley in 1990.

There is also a tradition of choral and instrumental music. The choir meets each Friday at 7pm. All are welcome.

Midweek prayers:

On Wednesday mornings at 10am there is a short time of prayer in the Little Chapel, bringing the concerns of the World Church, the Methodist Church in Britain and Ireland, the East Anglia District and the Cambridge Circuit, as well as the concerns of our local church for its members, for user groups on our premises, and for the city and community we are called to serve.
