The “Holy” Beetle Drive made a profit of £200 for Action for Children. Many thanks to all who came and made it such an enjoyable evening. I have sent to Action for Children Headquarters £1705.32 from Wesley – money collected over the Christmas period including Colin’s “Nearly New” stall, Carol singing, sale of Christmas cards, Christmas Church collections and of course the “Holy” Beetle Drive. Many thanks to all who have given so generously to help us raise this magnificent sum. Sheila Turner

This Week
Question: What do Easyjet, John D. Rockefeller and the Industrial Revolution have in common? Answer: Productivity! We all want it and advancing Britain`s standard of living requires it. But how do we get more of it? Come to Fireside on Tuesday as Roger Schmenner, our visiting American Professor, connects the dots that lead from the Industrial Revolution up to the present day.
Next Week
A church forum on 'worship' will take place on Monday 6 February at 7.30pm in the Upper Room, in which all groups and individuals within the Church are invited to participate. We will aim to discuss the present pattern and shape of worship services at Wesley. How, if at all, should we modify our worship at Wesley? Should there be more variety? Should we vary the times of worship? Do we do enough to allow children and young people to participate in worship? What about all-age worship? Please come along and make your views known.
The speaker at Fireside on Tuesday 7 February at 7.30pm in the Refectory is Lida Kindersley who will give an illustrated talk entitled "Cutting Letters in Stone". Lida runs the Kindersley workshop in Victoria Road and is dedicated to the increase of good lettering in the world. She is constructing the "Centenary stone" in the new garden and everyone is invited to join us to hear more of this work and learn more about letter cutting in general.
